My ceramic sculptures are quite fragile as I enjoy seeing how far I can manipulate or “stretch” the clay. I ask you to find a “reaching out” or “movement of expansion” when viewing my sculptures. This movement parallels the way I feel in the creative process. When creating I experience a pulling in my center as if my spirit is attempting escape from my physical body. This is what I call “reaching out”. My sculptures become a symbol, a symbol of my emotional landscapes.
Other materials I enjoy sculpting with are wire, textiles, objects I find, and things that rust. I adore rust and wood, age and texture. I intently study patterns in nature. In my heart I am a builder/maker. Maybe I could have been an engineer. C’est la vie.
