We're cooking up all sorts of holiday plans. This month's Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout will feature a full reconfiguration of the gallery. We like to keep changing things up in the space. It helps motivate us to create new work and it allows you to see new things each time you come in. We'll have wine and snacks during the event and Bonner Armbruster will be on hand with some of his favorite hand tools showing folks some of the many (many!!) steps that go into making a piece of fine furniture.
Stop by from 6 to 9 on the 16th, have some wine, check out all the new art and maybe even get in some early holiday shopping.
Shop Small Saturday is a nationwide event on November 25th. It's has become a great way for small, locally owned businesses to gain traction during the beginning of the holiday shopping season. As you shop, post pics with #shopsmallsmtx to fill up your passport and you'll have a chance to win great prizes. We have tons of new, small work in the gallery that will allow you to get a little bit of art for everyone on your holiday list. We'll also have a collage stations set up so you can take a break and make some of your own art.
We propose you kick back and relax on Black Friday. Avoid the crowds and the crazy and instead come downtown on Saturday to enjoy a fun and fruitful day of shopping from all the local businesses we're lucky to have in SMTX. The holidays represent nearly 30% of annual revenues for many small businesses, so spending your dollars locally has a huge impact and helps keep our small businesses healthy.
Join us on the 19th for another installation of the Downtown Walkabout. If you haven't made it out yet for one of these events, it's really worth checking out. Lots of folks out and about, shops open late and live music in Kissing Alley. It's a great family oriented and community focused event. This month we'll be playing around with some batty things, so be sure to stop by to say hi and see what we're up to.
