Our very own Karen Cross came up with the theme for the August installment of Third Thursday. This month it's all about being "Too Cool for School". 218 Artist Carol Schwartz has many cool talents (and often teaches them!) but this month she has offered to demonstrate how to make simple cloth napkins.
The 218 family decided early on to try to keep our waste to a minimum and Carol has been instrumental in making that a reality. She proposed cloth napkins, reusable wooden plates and now she has even made us a bunch of amazing clay cups. All these efforts have kept our event waste to a barely-there level. Stop by on Thursday, August 17th to see a bunch of new work in the gallery and learn a bit about how small changes can make a real difference to resource consumption.
BREAKING NEWS!: There will be free electric cab service circling the downtown area. You can park at the Lions Club lot to avoid downtown parking and ride in style over to the heart of the Walkabout. You can also jump on at a designated spot and get over to Walkabout participants who are slightly further out like The Price Center and The Good Stuff Community Store.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the monthly Third Thursday Downtown Walkabouts. We'll be open during each of them and are planning out something special to boot! This month we'll have Christine set up with a table of tin and tools to show you some of the techniques she uses to create her upcycled jewelry.
